Fan dies after medical emergency before Portsmouth v West Brom match
Portsmouth have announced the death of a supporter following their win over West Brom on Saturday.
In a medical emergency outside the stadium before the game a fan sadly died, the club have said.
A club statement read: "Portsmouth football club are devastated to announce that a Pompey fan has passed away following a medical emergency at Fratton Park on Saturday afternoon.
"The incident happened just outside the stadium before the game and despite the efforts of emergency services, they tragically died.
"The next of kin have been informed and our deepest condolences go out to the supporter’s family and loved ones.
"We are grateful for the efforts of South Central Ambulance Service and St John Ambulance, as well as club staff and stewards, who worked valiantly to try to save the supporter’s life."
