West Brom and Walsall handed EFL transfer boost that could provide big help with late deadline day deals
Clubs have just a handful of days to complete their winter transfer business before the mid season window slams shut.
For Albion and Walsall, there may still be business to done between now and the deadline.
Walsall have already done deals this window - while Albion have so far just confirmed two arrivals in Max O'Leary and Danny Imray.
With the window closing at 7pm on Monday evening clubs across the country will be scrambling to get their late business done.
But they will be aided be a new option that has been given to EFL clubs - having been introduced on the back of feedback from clubs.
The new tool they have available are deal sheets. But what are they and now do they work?
A deal sheet has been used for some time in the Premier League - but is now being introduced to assist clubs in the EFL on deadline.
The sheet basically allows clubs an additional two hours to submit the required paperwork for a transfer, provided the main details have been agreed between the buying club, selling club, and the player and that the EFL Deal Sheet is submitted before the transfer window closes at 7pm.
They have been in the Premier League for some time but not the EFL. Albion have fallen foul late in the window before - when they missed out on Steven Alzate and Josh Onomah. If deal sheets would have been available, the deals would have gone through.
EFL deal sheets can only be used for deals within the EFL, while if an EFL club is buying or selling to a Premier League club, they have to do that through the EFL's own deal sheet.
If a club requires extra time to get a deal over the line, then it must be submitted to the FA between 5pm and 7pm on deadline day.
That then gives the club an extra two hours, until 9pm, to get the deal over the line.
