Chang, who recently returned to Birmingham following a loan spell at League Two side Bristol Rovers, enjoyed a successful loan at Saddlers last season.

Now the 23-year-old has agreed a move back to the Bescot Stadium, where he spent the second half of last season.

However, his early time at the club was not without challenges. He had to wait until the end of March for his first appearance, a 0-0 draw at Gillingham, and did not start a League Two match until Walsall’s clash with Newport on April 21. But he has made 19 appearances in all competitions for Rovers this term.

"It's a pleasure to be back at Walsall," said Chang. "I really enjoyed my time here last season so when the opportunity came to come back and play football here it was a great feeling.

"I've had positive conversations with the gaffer, I knew earlier in the window that he was keen to bring me back. He's shown a lot of faith and interest in me as a player and as a person which I'm grateful for and there's been interest there for a while so I'm glad it's all sorted now.

"We're right in the mix again this season and myself and the team will be going out for promotion, that's the main goal and I'm looking forward to playing my part in that and hopefully we can do just that and achieve what we want to achieve."

Head coach Mat Sadler is thrilled to have Alfie back in the building and is looking forward to working with him again.

"I'm delighted to have secured Alfie's service again," he said.

"He's a player who we all know really well from his first spell with us and we've followed his time on loan at Bristol Rovers closely where he had a positive first half of the season.

"We're thankful that we've had the help of Birmingham City and it's fallen into place for Alfie to be with us for the second half of the season and we're looking forward to integrating him into the squad."

Meanwhile, winger Ronan Maher has extended his loan at Tamworth until the end of the season.
