'No big surprises' - Unai Emery declares himself happy with Aston Villa's transfer business
Unai Emery has warned not to expect any “big surprises” at Villa in the final days of the transfer window.
Tammy Abraham and Douglas Luiz arrived through the door this week, while Leon Bailey was recalled from his loan at Roma earlier in the month.
With Uefa rules permitting a maximum of three new players added to the club’s Europa League squad, further additions are not expected barring any injuries between now and Monday’s deadline.
More outgoings are likely, with Evann Guessand is close to joining Crystal Palace on loan, despite late interest from Juventus. Villa have also received an enquiry from Hoffenheim over 20-year-old striker Rory Wilson.
Emery has declared himself happy with the state of his squad heading into the final four months of the season.
“We were busy in the transfer window and now, on Friday, there are still three days until Monday," he said.
“I am not expecting a big surprise in the transfer window. How we are now, I am happy and I am happy how we are going to face the different competitions until the end of the season.”
Villa host Brentford on Sunday aiming to maintain the pressure on Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Emery continued: “We have to be strong to compete at the level we want. Tammy, Douglas and Leon were here before and hopefully the adaptation will be easy for them.
“We are going to set our demands of them. The players know it. They come here because they know the challenge we have and they must get their individual challenges as well.”
