Former FA Trophy winners Kidderminster Harriers looking to return to the last eight
Kidderminster Harriers are looking to book their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy for the first time in 16 years tomorrow.
Harriers hit the road to face National League play-off chasers FC Halifax Town at The Shay, continuing a run that has already seen them win through three rounds.
After beating Corby Town 3-0 and then knocking out Worksop Town on penalties, Harriers hammered National League side Morecambe 6-2 in the last round.
Halifax - who won the FA Trophy at Wembley just three years ago, beating Gateshead 1-0 in the final - are likely to provide a far sterner test, having won their last four matches.
But Harriers also go into the game in good form. They are unbeaten in 11 matches in all competitions, which has seen them take a strong grip of a play-off position in National League North.
Kiddy won the FA Trophy in 1987 - beating Burton Albion 2-1 at The Hawthorns following a goalless draw at Wembley - and have since been losing finalists on three further occasions.
They lost 2-1 to Wycombe Wanderers in 1991, went down by the same scoreline to Woking four years later - both under the twin towers - before suffering a 3-2 reverse against Stevenage under the arch of the new Wembley in 2007.
There is also important league action taking place in Northern One West, with Chasetown set to welcome hundreds of visiting supporters from Bury FC to the Scholars Ground.
Eighth-placed Chasetown can cut the gap to fourth-placed Bury to just two points with victory.
At the other end of the table, Darlaston Town, Sporting Khalsa and Stafford Rangers all have important home games in their fight to avoid relegation.
Darlo have the toughest test as the host table-topping Lower Breck, but have picked up seven points from a possible 12 in their last four outings, while the leaders have suffered back-to-back defeats.
Fourth-bottom Stafford - who ended a long run of defeats last time out with a draw against Bury - host mid-table Kidsgrove Athletic.
Sporting Khalsa start the day three points clear of Darlo and Stafford, but host in-form Bootle.
And in Northern One Midlands, Lichfield City will look to end a run of five consecutive defeats when they visit bottom side Loughborough Students.
