Highly-rated West Brom youngster stars on EFL debut after making second loan move of the season

It may not have been the best result - but Cole Deeming slotted seamlessly into life in the EFL following his move to Cheltenham Town.

The Albion youngster, who has been in and around the first team squad this season, was given his first taste of senior action at non-league Truro City earlier this season.

The teenager from Halesowen then returned to Albion - and was sent back out on loan last week to League Two strugglers Cheltenham Town.

Deeming was talked up by Robins boss Steve Cotterill before the game and that showed as he was put straight into the starting line-up for their clash against Grimsby Town on Saturday.

Overall it wasn't the best day at the office for Deeming and his team-mates as they were beaten 2-0 against the Mariners.

However, for Deeming it was individually a very good debut in the EFL.

He hit the post at 1-0 - and went on to be awarded man of the match on his debut for the club.

And Cotterill was full of praise for the performance of the youngster.

He said: "It was really tough for him, he is only a young man and I thought he done some really good things today.

"He was unlucky, it would have been nice if that crept in a 1-0 down, if we got that we would have gone on and won it."
