The England international defender made the switch from Crystal Palace in a £20million deal and was not included in City's squad to face Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday, where they suffered a shock 3-1 Champions League defeat.

Guehi will now bolster the options available to boss Pep Guardiola after a number of injuries and following two straight defeats to Manchester United and Bodo/Glimt.

He has become City's second January signing after they completed a £62.5million deal for Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo.

The winger was also not involved on Tuesday night and is expected to start against Wolves, having made an impressive start to life at his new club.

City hope to have Nico Gonzalez and former Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes available again, with the latter missing recent games due to illness.

Bernardo Silva missed the game on Tuesday due to suspension but will be available to play Wolves, as will Rodri who was sent off against Bodo/Glimt but will serve his suspension in the next Champions League game.

However, Guardiola is still expected to be without Savinho, Mateo Kovacic, John Stones, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol and Oscar Bobb.

Following their latest defeat, Guardiola said: "We arrived in some departments without important players and they are a little bit fragile like they were last season in a certain period but how they fought, 10 against 11, a lot of players made a step up.

"We have to come back for the victory. I have a feeling that the results since 2025 was not good, so in terms of the Premier League, and now today, but we have to look forward.

"We have four days for Wolves and after Galatasaray, to try to see what happens.

"Today was an incredible opportunity for us, but the feeling is that everything is going wrong, it's going against in many, many details, and that is a fact, and we have to try to change it. But the players are there, and we'll try."

On defensive injuries, he added: "Without John, without Ruben, without Josko, we're in a difficult situation (defensively) not for one game, but for a long, long period. Ruben will be back soon, John, hopefully - we'll see, but Josko, no."
