Frontman Akheem Rose was spot-on as he kept his cool from 12 yards to send the travelling Pitmen fans wild.

Winger Omari Sterling-James, the statement signing from Hereford of the division, opened his Hednesford account five minutes before full-time with the visitors' equaliser on his full league debut in the Northern Premier Division.

Tom Coulthard had earlier handed the in-form Teesside hosts the lead just before the hour but fifth-placed Stockton's good work unravelled in a chaotic final 10 minutes in which a late handball penalty was decisive.

It was a vital response from Gavin Hurren's Pitmen in their first league fixture since the 1-0 defeat to rivals Rushall Olympic on New Year's Day. It also kept the table-toppers two points clear of Hebburn Town, who also won.

Frustrated Rushall boss Ian Long hit at out an "embarrassing comedy of errors' as his side were hit in the bid for Northern Premier survival at home to fellow lowly Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Second-bottom Steels moved to within two points of the Pics with a 3-1 away win at Dales Lane. The visitors struck inside 10 minutes and then twice after the hour before Harry Wakefield's consolation.

"If we'd have come in 4-1 or 5-1 at half-time I don't think anyone could argue," Long said. "And then we go and gift them goals, it's been the story of our season.

"The second goal, if you see it on a Sunday morning you'd say it was an embarrassment. A comedy of errors."

Boss Adam Murray described a point gained after Kidderminster Harriers staged a second-half fightback to draw at home to bottom-half Worksop Town in National League North.

Lewis Whitham scored twice in the first 10 minutes to hand the visitors a shock lead at Aggborough, but fourth-placed Harriers responded after the break.

Owen Evans pulled one back after the hour with a neat finish but the hosts had to wait until stoppage time to secure a share of the spoils.

The leveller was superbly finished by Reece Devine as he crashed a volley in off the crossbar from George Walker's cross.

"We've been on the wrong end of a few of those this season so it was nice to be on a positive at the end," Murray said. "For 95 minutes we deserved more than that but there's a big frustration from the start."

Veteran frontman Tyrone Barnett was the last-gasp substitute hero as Halesowen Town climbed to third in Southern Central Premier with a 2-1 comeback win over Royston.

The second-bottom visitors struck early but Yeltz strike pair Jason Cowley were on target just after half-time and in the final seconds to seal a key win in front of almost 1,400.

The Glassboys claimed an admirable point in the Suffolk fog having played more than half the clash a man down after Harvey Portman's red card.

Relegation-battling Darlaston Town claimed one of their results of the Northern West season with a 2-2 draw in front of more than 3,000 at former Football League stalwarts Bury.

Dean Gill's battling side twice hit back through Callum Knowles and the boss' son Leo Gill in either half. A later Bury statement confirmed a post-match incident and red cards to Leo Gill, Kieran Cook and a member of Darlo's backroom team.
