Unai Emery is confident Villa’s pragmatic approach to the January window won’t knock their season off course.
Donyell Malen’s departure to Roma has left Emery hunting for a replacement forward before the end of the month, with the boss claiming the sale represented a good one for all parties.
Villa struggled in the early weeks of the season, with Emery later admitting a difficult summer window in which several key players were linked with exits had proven distracting.
But though the club are once again operating under tight financial restrictions, he says both his own focus and that of the players is on the matches ahead, with transfer business led by president of football operations Roberto Olabe and director Damian Vidagany.
Villa host Everton on Sunday aiming for a 12th consecutive home win and Emery said: “I am not involving my mind in (the window) a lot.
“It is mostly the club, Roberto (Olabe) and Damian (Vidagany) are with the owners speaking about the next signing, thinking of the striker we need.
