The Welshman, who was sacked as Cheltenham Town boss back in September - managed Walsall between February 2022 and April 2023.

His 68 game spell saw Flynn pick up 21 victories - before he was axed and replaced by current Saddler's boss Mat Sadler.

Since then, he has had spells with Swindon and most recently Cheltenham - having had 250 games in charge of Newport County to kick off his managerial career.

But Flynn, who played 420 games during his career as a midfielder for clubs in England and Wales, has called time on his career in the game to move into business.

Posting in LinkedIn, Flynn confirmed he has joined Newport based technology company CDM Media as general manager and director of operations.

The former Walsall boss said: "I’m pleased to announce that I’m joining the CDM Media team as GM & Director of Operations, where I’ll be leading the charge on hiring, developing, and building a high-performing team for our new operation in Newport.

"After more than 25 years in professional football as both a player and a manager, I felt the time was right to embrace a new challenge — one that allows me to further develop my business acumen and fully apply my academic qualifications in strategic leadership and business management.

"Throughout my career, I’ve built an extensive network of business contacts, associates, and lifelong friends within the professional sports world. Combined with my experience working with people at all levels — including CEOs, Chairpersons, and Directors — I’m excited to apply these skills and relationships in a new and dynamic space at the intersection of marketing, events, and technology.

"While I’ll always remain connected to the football community — after spending a lifetime in the game, that’s inevitable — I’m genuinely excited to embrace change, a new industry, and a fresh challenge."
