West Brom loanee who featured just twice before heading to MLS linked with surprise Championship move
He started just two games for Albion during an injury ravaged loan spell last season.
But now Paddy McNair could well be back in the Championship in the January transfer window.
The former Manchester United and Middlesbrough defender was signed by Albion as cover in the first half of last season.
He had just signed for San Diego but prior to heading to the US - he was loan to Albion for six months.
McNair went on to start just two games for the club - with injury bringing an end to his spell at The Hawthorns.
He departed and moved to San Diego for their first ever MLS season - but he has now been linked with a return.
The Northern Ireland international is under contract until December 2027 - but with the MLS season not starting until March - two Championship clubs are keen to add McNair to their squad.
Oxford United and Portsmouth have been linked with a short term deal for McNair - as they look for January recruits to drag them up the table.
