Aston Villa chief makes 'respect' demand after Crystal Palace penalty controversy
Villa chief Damian Vidagany has demanded the club are shown the “same respect” as Premier League rivals after they were left fuming by the officiating of Wednesday’s 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace.
Boss Unai Emery angrily confronted referee Andy Madley following the final whistle after Villa were not awarded a penalty when Youri Tielemans appeared to be hauled down by Brennan Johnson at a corner.
Emery was left astounded neither Madley or video assistant Michael Oliver considered the incident worthy of a review.
Villa, who saw two shouts for first half penalties after handballs by Tyrick Mitchell waved away, were also unhappy at what they believed was persistent fouling of Morgan Rogers going unpunished.
Vidagany, the club’s president of football operations, later took to social media and wrote: “Aston Villa deserves same respect than the other teams of EPL.
