Darren Fletcher is the latest former West Brom player to take to the dugout - following the sacking of Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.

The United boss has been axed as manager at Old Trafford on Monday - with the club sitting sixth in the Premier League.

It comes amid a strained relationship with the club's owners - with Amorim saying he was ready to leave the club at the end of his contract.

Now he has gone and the search is on for a new head coach - former Baggies midfielder Fletcher has been handed the reigns on a temporary basis.

The 41-year-old, who played 97 times for Albion over a two and a half year period at The Hawthorns, moved on to Stoke before retiring from the game.

He moved into coaching roles and became United's technical director back in 2021 - a position he held until 2024.

He then took over as the under 18s coach and now makes a step up to his first senior role at the club - and is expected to take United's press conference on Tuesday ahead of a midweek clash with Burnley.

It comes following a busy few weeks for the Fletcher family - with son Jack being handed his Manchester United debut in a clash with Aston Villa before Christmas. Other son Tyler is also on the books at United and in the club's under 21 side.
