Rock-solid Kidderminster Harriers made it seven successive wins with yet another clean sheet in a scrappy victory over Curzon Ashton.

Adam Murray's side continued their charge in National League North as experienced midfielder David Davis netted the game's only goal 10 minutes into the second half.

Visitors Curzon, who are on the fringes of the play-offs, arrived at Aggborough to disrupt the hosts' flow but after a first half the home boss described as "horrible", Harriers found their way through and kept a fifth clean sheet on the spin.

Harriers' victory strengthened their position of fourth.

"It was more of a typical National League North game," Murray said. "If you're going to be successful you have to learn to win in different ways.

"That's a big win because those games are tricky and we had to go about it a little bit different.

"The first half was horrible, I didn't like it. It was scrappy but the fans were great and stuck with the boys."

Former Birmingham and Wolves midfielder Davis turned in from close range with the visitors unable to deal with a ball into the box to finish well in front of more than 2,700 fans.

Elsewhere, Russ Penn reflected on the 'spirit of the Halesowen Town community' after the 3-1 victory over Bromsgrove Sporting.

The club said goodbye to president Colin Brookes at his funeral on Friday and tributes were paid to him by players at the end as well as around the ground.

And volunteers worked tirelessly on Friday night and early morning Saturday to get the game on - one of just a few in the league to take place.

He said: "It shows what this club is about and the strong community spirit that Colin received a great send off and people were here at 8.30 in the morning to get the game on as well as last night."

Halesowen came back well with three second half goals to beat Bromsgrove who had taken the lead on two minutes with a scrambled goal by Tyrone Lewthwaite.

It took Halesowen until 63 minutes to equalise through Kyle Finn. A great solo effort five minutes later from Fin Holmes and a well worked goal from Ryan Wollacott on 70 saw them through to the three points and fourth place.

Other fixtures involving the region's clubs fell to the freezing weather.
