'We are good enough': Jayson Molumby makes defiant West Brom statement as midfielder eyes starting return

West Brom's manager and quality of the squad have been questioned in recent months - amid a rocky run for Albion.

Sitting in 16th at the turn of the year is not where Albion or many supporters expected to be.

But that is where they are after a patchy run of form.

However, despite the question marks Jayson Molumby insists Albion are good enough - and can string a run of results together to fire them up the table.

The Republic of Ireland international came off the bench in Monday night's 2-1 win over QPR - and is keen to stay injury free and make his way back into the side.

Speaking prior to Albion's two latest festive fixtures, he told the club's matchday programme: "It is frustrating being injured.

"Not being able to play is just the worst feeling but hopefully I can stay injury free and crack on now.

"It is an important period where we had a lot of games come in quick succession and it was probably a big blow to have myself and Toby (Collyer) injured.

"But both midfielders who played during that time did really well and got lots of minutes, which is important because we all want to play whenever and whereever we can and we have to be ready.

"I just want to get back into the team, give a bit of energy and help the lads pick up points.

"We are good enough to go on a little run so, hopefully, and that has to start in these upcoming matches and we must build on it for the rest of the season."

A lot of criticism for Albion's bad run of form has unsurprisingly been put at the door of head coach Ryan Mason.

But for Molumby, it is about looking at themselves as players and taking responsibility for their performances on the pitch.

He added: "As players, we have to take a lot of responsibility for results and performances because we're the ones who ultimately control matters on the pitch.

"We do have young lads in the group who are relatively inexperienced to this division, but the majority of us who play regularly know what this division is about, so we know what it takes every week in the Championship to get points and it is down to all of us as players to look at ourselves and do better."
