The 21-year-old has scored in each of his past two games for Tamworth and has made 13 appearances in total during his third loan at the National League outfit.

Maher has been able to feature in the EFL Trophy for Walsall during his temporary stay at the Lamb and has featured four times for the Saddlers in all competitions this term.

The Republic of Ireland under-21 international had two separate loan stints at Tamworth last season - registering three goals and three assists in 14 matches.

Mat Sadler recently voiced his intentions to keep Maher with the Lambs for the remainder of the season.

His previous loan deal expired on Monday, but Tamworth have agreed to extend until January 29. The Express & Star understands that there is scope for Maher to remain at the Lamb beyond the end of next month.

Tamworth signed Maher on a youth loan in October, but that deal has been changed to a standard short-term loan due to the midfielder turning 21 today.

Maher scored his first goal of the season during a 2-1 win over Southend United on December 20, before netting again on Boxing Day, albeit in a 7-1 drubbing at Solihull Moors.

A club statement read: "Ronan re-joined Tamworth, after having two previous loan spells, on a youth loan until the end of December.

"He will continue his development with the Lambs heading into 2026. We wish Ronan all the best as he continues to flourish with Andy Peaks' side."

Since making his debut aged 17 in August 2022, Maher has featured 33 times for Walsall in all competitions.

He has started just 10 times in total - including just twice in League Two.

His only goal for the club so far came in a 4-3 defeat against Blackburn Rovers in the League Cup in August 2023.
