Anna Morphet scored directly from a corner in the ninth-minute, before Amber Hughes kept her composure in front of goal to slot a confident finish into the bottom corner.

Charlotte Greengrass had two golden opportunities to extend Wolves' lead - dragging an effort agonisingly off target and crashing another off the crossbar.

The third did eventually arrive late on when Amy Sims unleashed a stunning strike into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Sims was shown a second yellow card before full-time but Wolves maintained their two-point lead at the summit with their 10th successive league win.

Meanwhile, Albion sit in fifth spot, 19 points adrift of league leaders Wolves.

In 2025, Wolves have been unbeaten across 23 games in the league - winning 19 and drawing four. They have also scored a staggering 81 goals and conceded just 17.

"Football is a funny game. I couldn't have asked for better from the girls, I thought they were outstanding today," McNamara said.

"Disappointed with myself for allowing that negative at the end with [Amy] Sims picking up a second yellow card.

"We should do better as a staff and that's just how she plays. She's combative and doesn't pull out of stuff.

"It's probably the right decision. A little bit of a dampener but overall it's a fantastic result.

"To come here, not many teams have won here this year. Three goals and a clean sheet."

Birmingham City remain second in the Women's Super League 2 after easing to a 3-0 home victory over Durham at St Andrew's.

Veatriki Sarri provided the breakthrough for Birmingham with a long-range free-kick on the cusp of half-time, before quickfire goals from Chelsea Cornet and Lily Crosthwaite after the restart clinched maximum points.

Walsall romped to a 4-0 victory against Trooper Ladies in the Women's Challenge Vase to book their place in the third round.

Chloe Astell opened the scoring on the quarter-hour mark and goals from Saanya Najib and Lacie Holden propelled the Saddlers into a 3-0 lead at the interval.

Substitute Lyndsey Ross-Baker emerged from the bench to add a fourth 16 minutes from time to put Walsall in the hat for the next round.
