'I don't care' - Midfielder delivers frank message on Aston Villa title talk
Youri Tielemans says he “doesn’t care” whether Villa are considered title challengers as they prepare for a huge festive double-header against Chelsea and Arsenal.
The Belgium international is paying no attention to the noise “outside” the club, with Villa just three points off the Premier League summit at Christmas after winning 10 straight in all competitions.
Unai Emery’s men head to Chelsea on Saturday, before visiting leaders Arsenal on Tuesday week but Tielemans does not believe either match will be season-defining.
Villa’s brilliant run has thrust them into the title race but asked if they were still being overlooked in some quarters, he replied: “I don't know. I don't care. I don't listen to the noise outside. I know what we're doing, the game we're playing, our tactics.
“I know the qualities inside this team. We all do. Inside the team we're very confident. It's still a long way to go. Just keep doing what we do at the moment.”
