Monmore Green set to deliver some knockout action on Boxing Day
Bosses at Monmore Green are hoping for a bumper turnout for their Boxing Day race meeting as they aim to ‘finish the year in style’.

The action at Monmore begins early next Friday, with doors opening at 9.30am and the first of 12 races on the day coming at 10.28am.
Boxing Day typically attracts large numbers to the long-standing Wolverhampton circuit, and general manager Paul Mason is excited for the occasion and also what’s to come for the greyhound track in 2026.
“It’s always one we look forward to here at Monmore and we’re carrying on our long-standing tradition of offering free entry to our general area simply by turning up on the day,” said Mason.
“We pride ourselves on being a welcoming, enjoyable venue for all ages while there’s also our downstairs over-18s Party Pack room which is available to pre-book, with the restaurant sold out.
“It’s been a successful year for us, and it’d be lovely to have a nice atmosphere on the terraces, roaring the dogs home.
“We’re hoping to finish the year in style as we get ready to host some big events shortly into the new year.”
Monmore’s Category One competition schedule for 2026 has now been confirmed, with the £10,000 Winter Derby (over the standard 480m trip) and £20,000 Golden Jacket (the prestigious stayers event over 684m) running concurrently from February 7 until February 21.
The £20,000 Puppy Derby (480m) then begins on March 14 and culminates on March 28.
Tonight at the track, Longacres Daddy looks to continue his excellent form for trainer Pat Doocey, who also owns the greyhound along with Adam Hingley.
Counting both open and graded races, the two-year-old has now won his last six races and looks to keep the streak up as he steps back down to four-bend A1 action this evening (8.13pm).
