Walsall analysis: Two points dropped as tasty top-of-the-table tussle looms

It felt like two points dropped when Walsall were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against local rivals Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

There is a small concern that home form is beginning to somewhat undermine the Saddlers' promotion push.

Things could not be better away from home. They boast the best record in the division (20 points) and have collected six wins on the road in a row - including three on the spin in the league.

Since winning five of their first six home games of the season in League Two, Walsall have emerged victorious just once in four league games at Bescot.

Shrewsbury were much happier with the point than Walsall and Albert Adomah claimed that is because of the high standards that have been set at the club.

It at least sets up a tasty clash between first and second when Walsall travel to Meadow Lane to face Notts County in the early kick-off on Saturday. County along with Swindon Town in third trail the summit by just two points.

Daniel Kanu has scored 11 goals in all competitions for Walsall this term.

They could've quite easily been home and dry in the first half and Saddlers supporters will be hoping that history doesn't repeat itself with Daniel Kanu.

The 21-year-old continues to go from strength to strength in Walsall colours and his third-minute rocket served as yet another example of his boundless talent at this level.
