Former Huddersfield Town defender Michael Hefele, who played for Corberan at the Terriers, was brought in to join his coaching staff shortly after arriving at Albion.

And he was a key part of the staff - and was popular among the Albion players and backroom team.

Regularly seen congratulating players and getting involved with the squad after games - Hefele's time at the club came to an end shortly after they were beaten in the Championship play-offs in May 2024.

He left the club that summer, opting to make a move to Saudi Arabia, joining second division side Diriyah Club.

And now after a year and a half with the side, he confirmed on social media that he is set for a new chapter in his coaching career.

He said: "Khalas — Arabic for “that’s it.” All the best of success in the future @diriyahclub Let’s close that chapter with gratitude and growth, thanks your Mr. Michael."

The announcement led to a number of his fans from one of his former clubs calling for a return.

It was not Albion fans but Huddersfield fans, with a number of them calling for him to make a return to the now League One club.
