The Saddlers head to Oldham Athletic tonight for a League Two clash that comes hot on the heels of a long journey to Gateshead in the FA Cup on Sunday and last Tuesday's Vertu Trophy progression at Stevenage.

It is perhaps the most important match of the three as Walsall look to maintain their promotion challenge and build on the recent form that has seen them win four matches in a row in all competitions.

"I'm so proud to represent this football club for the fans like that - unbelievable support," said Sadler, after hundreds braved the rain in a stand open to the North East elements on Sunday. "Thank you from us again - we've just got to remain together and keep working hard together."

Walsall fans have been getting used to long away days even more than usual this season - with the FA Cup draw throwing up a journey south to face Eastleigh in the first round before Sunday's long drive north to Gateshead.

And the supporters will next be heading east for a third-round tie at Championship club Norwich City in the third round, but for now the focus remains on Saddlers' promotion charge, which stops in Oldham tonight.

"Another tough game," said Sadler. "They are a very good team, don't concede many goals, are really tough to beat - especially at home - so we know it's going to be a really difficult game.

"It's an ex-manager of mine in Micky (Mellon) and players that we know ourselves, so we know they are a very strong team with lots of experience."
