Unai Emery hails 'intelligence and power' of Aston Villa star
Unai Emery saluted the “intelligence and power” of John McGinn after the skipper’s impressive performance in Sunday’s derby win over Wolves.
McGinn was among Villa’s best performers as they ground out a 1-0 win to stay in the Premier League’s top-four.
The Scot, who recently passed 300 appearances for the club, was honoured before the match with a giant Tifo flag on the Holte End and proceeded to deliver a display worthy of the accolade.
McGinn has already played in several positions for Villa this season but has started the last few matches on the right of midfield and Emery praised his versatility.
The Villa boss said: “He (McGinn) is intelligent. Tactically, he has his power as a player to play with the ball like Sunday, even playing wide.
