In recent years Albion have handed out 'caps' to former players of the club before games.

And on Wednesday it was the turn of a player who is still loved by supporters at both Albion and Birmingham.

One of the caps was handed to West Brom's 2005 Great Escape goalscorer and hero Geoff Horsfield - who made a return to The Hawthorns.

Signed for £1m, his goals helped Albion win promotion back to the Premier League in 2004 - but it was his contribution the following year that saw him etch his name into Albion folklore.

He came off the bench and scored with his first touch of the ball on the final day of the 2004/05 Premier League season - as Albion became the first side ever to survive having been bottom at Christmas.

Horsfield, who netted 15 goals in 73 appearances for Albion was presented with his cap by former team mate Paul Robinson in front of the Albion fans at half time of their clash with Blues.

Asked about his most memorable moment, the powerful forward said: "It has to be the Great Escape one against Portsmouth to keep it up. It feels like it was yesterday to be honest, it was a fantastic occasion."

Elsewhere, former Albion midfielder Darren Carter, who also turned out for the Baggies as well as Blues, was presented with his cap.
