Dreaming of Formula One: Ethan fights back to win go-karting championship
Go-karting starlet Ethan Guest has been crowned Club100 Cadet Lightweight Champion after a nail-biting finale at Warden Law in Sunderland.
Guest, who has ambitions to become a Formula One racing driver, headed into the final round of the Club100 North Championship, in third place, just eight points off leader Felix Sheldon-Haywood and one point behind second-placed Zayn Perry.
To win the title, the 13-year-old from Walsall had to secure victory in both the pre-final and final, and for his rival not to finish higher than fifth in either race.
And the St Francis of Assisi student, who was competing in only his second national race season, did just that in style.
He drove with precision and maturity, racing on slick tyres on a treacherously damp circuit. After securing victory in the pre-final, he went on to win the final in style, defending for most of the race and crossing the line as winner.

“I was positive going in to the races, but really didn’t think everything would line up perfectly so I would win the championship,” said Guest. “I just went in to do my very best and couldn’t believe it when everything went my way. I’m really pleased and it has topped off what has been a great season for me.
“I’m now moving up to the Junior Rotax class next year, so to have left my second and final Club100 season as champion couldn’t be better.”
As Guest's focus now turns to an even bigger 2026 season, with new challenges and opportunities on the horizon, he is actively looking for sponsors and partners.
