Alex Mowatt's early goal was cancelled out by a late strike - after Albion missed chances to grab a second.

Here are a few things you may have missed from the game.

Creative chimney chants

Albion fans and supporters in general are usually quite creative - and they showed it on Wednesday night.

Birmingham City's new stadium design was released last week with much anticipation around it.

The plans for the new 62,000 seater stadium will see 12 large chimneys around the ground.

It has already provided fans with plenty of opportunities to have a poke at Blues in the last week - and Albion fans took up the chance to mention it in Wednesday's derby.

One that brought a laugh for Albion fans and I am sure a smile to some Blues fans.

Get on with it!!

Albion fans were relatively happy at the break.

They had seen their side take the lead, create the better chances and show a good response to the weekend defeat to Coventry.

But collectively with the Blues fans, they were directing some frustration at the refree and the officials just after half time.

With the sides back out from half time, the fans in their seats, the officials just seemed to be standing around talking and conferring on the sidelines.

It went on for a good five minutes before the boos rang out from both sets of fans.

And it wasn't the night where you want to be standing around and not doing a lot.

I've seen referees booed coming off the pitch and in the game if bad decisions are being made - but never while standing on the sidelines ahead of the restart.

A hero returns!

The half time break at Albion always brings up a little bit of nostalgia for the fans who have braved the elements rather than head for the concourse.

Or they just may not fancy the queues.

Anyway, the presenting of the Albion 'caps' by the club's former players' association sees ex-players invited back to a game.

And this week it was a memorable name from the past - one Geoff Horsfield.

Owing to his Albion and Blues connections, the Great Escape goalscoring hero was presented with his cap on the pitch by former team mate Paul Robinson.

And he was also joined by another Baggie collecting a cap, in the form of ex-Blues and Albion man Darren Carter. The appearances will have no doubt evoked memories for Albion fans.

Horsfield recalled his Great Escape strike - while for Carter it was a 2005 belter against Arsenal.
