In the Championship alone, a handful of clubs have opted to change their managers while others have had to bring in a new man after their head coach moved on.

And two of Albion's Championship rivals have made moves early this week with two managerial appointments.

The first comes at Middlesbrough after the Riverside club had to replace Rob Edwards - who departed for Wolves after only a number of months in charge.

At one stage during their recruitment process - Boro had held talks with a name that will be familiar to many Albion fans.

According to reports, Boro's board had held informal talks with Raphael Wicky, the Swiss coach who had been due to join Albion back in January as they looked to replace Carlos Corberan.

Wicky was all set to arrive at the club - but an eleventh hour issue with bringing in staff meant he turned down the chance to take the job.

His name then resurfaced with regards to the Boro job - but the Teesside club, who are currently the nearest challengers to leaders Coventry at the top of the table, have appointed Swedish coach Kim Hellberg.

The 37-year-old has been in charge of Swedish side Hammarby and is now taking on his first job outside of his native country.

Elsewhere, Swansea City have also made an appointment - as they replace the sacked Alan Sheehan.

They have appointed Vitor Matos as their new head coach on a four year deal. Matos was previously an elite development coach with Liverpool and has joined the Swans from Portuguese second tier side Maritimo.
