Trainer eyes another victory for 'winning machine' at Monmore Green
Trainer Richie Taberner’s ‘winning machine’ looks to add yet another triumph to her excellent record at Monmore Green tonight.
Aero Becks, owned by Rachel Biggs and Nick Clifford, is currently on a four-in-a-row win streak in graded races (all A1s) at the Wolverhampton circuit while tonight sees her compete in a Category Three open class final, the Ladbrokes.com 480 after an all-the-way victory in her heat last weekend.
The July 2022 bitch now boasts 21 wins from 46 runs, giving her a sensational 45.65 per cent strike rate
“She’s won four A1s on the bounce at Monmore. I think she’s only had about about 12 480m races at Monmore this year and won eight or nine of them,” said Taberner.
“She’s a tremendous, tremendous bitch. She’s just a winning machine.
“It’s a really tough final this one, but I think she’s got the ability to win it – she’s got the trap draw as well.
“We’ve had a very good year with her in terms of getting to the semi-finals of the Oaks at Dunstall Park.
“The owners need a big mention, too, Rachel and Nick who follow her all around the country.
“It’d be lovely if she can win this final for them as well.”
The final takes place at 8.47pm and sees Aero Becks, running from trap one, take on a top-class field.
Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) champion trainer Mark Wallis has Newinn Deejay and Coonough May in traps four and five respectively.
Romford’s Maxine Locke then has Ballymac Blanco and Droopys Scratch in traps two and six while in trap three, Paradise Sky has arguably been the standout performer for Monmore handler Brian Thompson this year.
Also on the card are two more Opens, the Ladbrokes.com 264 and Ladbrokes.com 480 Maiden.
Wallis’ Vermithor will look to impress in the former after a handy solo trial around Monmore recently while Nathan Hunt’s wide runner Bang On Molly could be worth keeping an eye on in the latter.
