West Brom promotion winner who became sporting director scoops £30,000 prize in reality TV series
A former tough tackling and West Brom defender has scooped a £30,000 prize after appearing on a reality TV show in Romania.
Promotion winner Gabriel Tamas spent three and a half seasons at The Hawthorns, helping the club win promotion to the Premier League and establish themselves in the top flight.
He turned out 77 times for Albion and is remembered for his no-nonsense and tough tackling style of play - and was well liked by the Albion fans before he departed CFR Cluj.
He went on to play for the likes of Doncaster Rovers and Cardiff City - before signing for a host of clubs later in his career.
Tamas retired in 2023 after turning out for Romanian second tier side Concordia Chiajna - and since 2024 has been the sporting director at the club.
However, in recent months the former defender has stepped away from that role to take part in a reality TV show in his native country called 'Asia Express', which is the Romanian version of Race Across the World.
Alongside head coach of fellow Romanian Tunari, Dan Alexa - the pair left their jobs saw them travelling across the world through cities and on long distance hitchhikes.
And the pair came out on top and won the show, which is a hit in Romania.
They made it to through Vietnam and the Philippines to Seoul in South Korea and won the £30,000 jacket ahead of the rest of their competitors.
