Eggington will be a guest at the Excelsior Sporting Club fight night in Bar Sport’s Premier Suite on Thursday, November 27, when the World Boxing Council will give the 32-year-old from Stourbridge a Lifetime Achievement Award.

It is in recognition of a 45-fight pro career that includes winning British, Commonwealth, European, IBO world and WBC Silver belts at super-welterweight and middleweight.

His defence of the WBC Silver middleweight title against Bilal Jkitou in Coventry in 2021 was named fight of the year by the British Boxing Board of Control.

Eggington threw a staggering 1,317 punches at the Frenchman in the 12-round fight – an average of 109 per round – to win a split decision in front of the Channel Five cameras.

Eggington hasn’t fought since beating Lee Cutler in April, but according to Excelsior Sporting Club chief Scott Murray, the ‘Savage’ isn’t finished with fighting yet.

Murray said: “Sam wants at least one more – and is just waiting for the right fight to come along.”

Eggington has twice boxed on Excelsior Sporting Club shows and both fights led to slots on major televised shows.

Steed Woodall and Nyall Berry also went on to fight in front of the cameras only weeks after boxing at the Premier Suite and diners have also seen Ollie Cooper and Jess Barry become champions.

Murray believes diners at his last show of a busy year could see more fighters follow in their footsteps.

The four fights include Shabir Haidary, an Afghanistan-born crowdpleaser from Gloucester who’s won all 10 fights, Huey Malone, a former two-time National Amateur Champion signed to Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, heavyweight puncher Joe Bourne and Cathal Crowley, a light-heavyweight from Cork who’s bringing big support with him.

The St Andrews Night show will also feature bagpipes, whisky tasting and a Scottish gourmet meal.
