Round-up: Kidderminster Harriers makes 'killing ourselves' claim after late heartbreak
Frustrated boss Adam Murray accused Kidderminster Harriers of “killing themselves again” after they were beaten at the death by Darlington.
Matty Cornish scored a winner for the visitors deep into stoppage time and Murray called on his team to develop a “championship mindset” if they want to climb the National League North table.
Harriers, who lost Dan Mooney to a knee injury, had fallen behind in first half stoppage time before Ryley Reynolds pulled them level.
Murray said: “In between both boxes we were outstanding. We dominated the game and created chance, after chance, after chance.
“One minute at the end of the first half and one minute at the end of the second half through lack of decision-making has cost us.
“We have killed ourselves again and it is tough to take. We did not deserve that.
“It is just poor decision-making. We have got complacent. One ball down the middle and we have not dealt with it. The ball should have been out of the ground and if you make decisions like that, you are going to get punished.
“We will continue to go from seventh, to fifth, to fourth, to third, until we learn a ruthless mentality.
“We need a championship mindset. We need to put games like that to bed.”
Halesowen Town boss Russ Penn was left bemoaning another slow start after they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Bury Town.
The Yeltz fell behind inside seven minutes when Ollie Canfer netted for the hosts and though Fin Holmes drew them level, George Quantrell got the winner as the visitors could not find a way back in the second half.
Penn said: “We did everything in the second half to get something. I don’t know how we have not scored a couple.
“Their goalkeeper has been superb but listen, we have lost because of our first half. We were so slow coming out of the blocks and you can’t start that way.”
Struggling Stourbridge claimed a valuable point at Stratford Town thanks to Aaron Bishop’s first goal for the club.
Second half goals from Akheem Rose and Montel Gibson earned Hednesford Town a 2-0 home win over Stocksbridge Steels in the Northern Premier League.
The Pitmen sit fourth in the table, while Rushall are 14th after a 1-1 draw at Gainsborough Trinity. Kian Ryley put them ahead just after the break, with Will Lancaster then levelling for the home side.
Stafford Rangers boss Neil Kitching accused his team of gifting victory to visitors Trafford after they ended up on the wrong side of a seven-goal thriller in the West Division.
The Boro fought back from 2-0 and 3-2 down after conceding twice in the first 10 minutes but ended up empty handed after Theo Farquharson scored the winner in the closing stages.
“We gifted them the three points,” said Kitching. “We had something with five minutes to go and gave it away.
“We started the game poorly and I am really disappointed with that because one thing we have done all week is to remind the players, no complacency.
“We need to treat every game like a cup final because anyone can beat anyone in that league. We didn’t do that.”
Sporting Khalsa remain rooted in trouble after a 4-0 defeat at Sporting Khalsa, Chasetown lost 2-1 at Avro and Darlaston drew 1-1 at home with Nantwich Town.
In the Midland Division, Lichfield City went down 1-0 at Basford United.
