Mat Sadler hails 'unbelievable pro' Jamille Matt after FA Cup strike and reveals Jonny Stuttle gesture
Mat Sadler has hailed Jamille Matt after his FA Cup goal - and has backed him to re-discover his form from last season.
The 36-year-old has endured a frustrating campaign so far - having made just three starts and only one in the league.
The experienced forward, who netted 12 goals last season came off the bench to score in the 3-0 win over Eastleigh, having impressed his manager in their midweek EFL Trophy clash with Chelsea under 21s.
Sadler believes the forward is starting to show signs of what he produced last season - and hailed his contribution in the FA Cup.
He said: "The finish was sublime. It was a brilliant goal and I hope he gets the plaudits he deserves because everyone knows how much I respect that guy.
"What people perhaps can’t see is Jamille is starting to look more free in the way he moves now. We saw it last season and what a handful he was. It has probably taken a little bit of time but on Tuesday I was like yes, that’s Jamma.
"We are starting to see it again."
Sadler as well as Walsall players have repeatedly explained how much of an impact Matt has off the field at the club - and the Walsall boss revealed how the striker went out of his way to invite former loan striker Jonny Stuttle to their FA Cup clash on Sunday.
The 20-year-old joined Walsall on loan back in the summer but went back to his parent club Bournemouth after sustaining a knee injury and needing an operation.
Matt organised for Stuttle to come and watch their clash at Eastleigh - and presented the youngster with a signed shirt.
Sadler added: "He is a wonderful human. It is the little things.
"Jonny Stuttle being at Eastleigh, Jamille arranged that and organised a shirt for him which we all signed.
"We never got the chance to do that when he had to go and have his operation so soon. Jamille is someone I will respect forever. He is an unbelievable pro."
