Bridefort Lady is back chasing glory at Monmore
One of Monmore’s biggest success stories of this year returns to Open race action at the track this evening.
Bridefort Lady – trained by Nathan Hunt and proudly owned by Aneurin Venables and Peter and Val Young – has enjoyed a remarkable rise having started her career in the lower grades at the back end of 2024.
Yesterday marked a year since she finished fourth in an A7 at Monmore, while just last weekend she was competing in the £20,000 Premier Greyhound Racing Oaks final at Dunstall Park – coming fifth in the top competition for bitches.
Purchased for a modest £1,500, Bridefort Lady has claimed Open victories at Monmore, Newcastle, Romford and Nottingham throughout 2025 and will look to add to her impressive record in the Ladbrokes.com 480 (8.13pm) tonight, among the nine Opens on a quality card.
Standing in her way are two kennelmates in Whisky Elsa and Carmac Pete, with Coologue Pest (Brian Thompson), Aero Pattika (Richie Taberner) and Droopys Expected (Kim Billingham-Hine) completing an intriguing affair.
Coologue Pest has been in fine form in graded action and could well be worth a look, winning three of his last five runs at A1 and finishing second in the other two.
One Category Three event culminates tonight as another gets under way, with the Ladbrokes.com 264 Final coming at 7.22pm.
Young pup Noduff Alpha (Taberner) made it two wins from two career outings last weekend to advance to the final in 15.49secs but was the slowest of the heat winners – Aero Bale (Taberner) clocking 15.37secs and Ruinthelonggame (Gary Griffiths) shining in 15.26secs.
Three heats take place for the Ladbrokes.com 480 Maiden – for greyhounds yet to win an Open over the standard distance – with Pat Doocey’s Longacres Joy stepping up in trip for the first heat.
Catchem Boyo (Billingham-Hine) goes in the second heat after a couple of decent outings at Oxford while John Walton’s Rinn Soleir tries her luck in the third.
The final race of the card, the Ladbrokes.com 630 is sure to see Vhagar go off as a short-priced favourite for Greyhound Board champion trainer Mark Wallis. It is her first appearance at Monmore since winning the £10,000 Ladbrokes Summer Stayers Classic back on August 23rd, in a super-quick 37.54secs.
