Neil Kitching saluted Stafford Rangers’ character after they came from two goals down to draw with Runcorn Linnets.

The Boro went behind in the opening seconds at Marston Road and then conceded again before the break.

But Andy Burns got them back into the Northern League West Division clash with his first-ever goal for the club, with Joe Thomas then bagging the leveller.

Kitching, who has seen his squad “decimated” by injuries, admitted some disappointment they were unable to find a winner.

“I’m disappointed we did not get all three points because we were excellent,” he said.

“We’ve gifted them two goals. I didn’t actually see the first one because I was turning round in the dugout. We then concede an absolute howler just before half-time.

“Our second half performance, the response from going 2-0 down, was excellent. We dominated the second half.

“I’m just disappointed with 10 or 15 minutes to go we did not create another big chance to win it.

“Runcorn will be in and around the top-five, so for us to get a point and for me to be disappointed we have not got all three, shows how well we did.”

Kidderminster Harriers boss Adam Murray expressed his delight for Riley Reynolds after his goal earned a 1-0 win over Spennymoor.

“I am over the moon for Riley,” he said. He has waited really patiently for his chance.

“He is a lot like me in terms of he is very strong in his faith. He is a big believer in God and the work God does in his life.

“We have spent a lot of time praying with each other, even when he is not in the team.

“He knew these moments would come and he is getting the benefits from it now.

“His attitude has been top drawer. He is just one of those players who is a pain in the backside for the opposition. Where he gets his energy from, I don’t know.

“But his mindset, for a young man, is top, top drawer and I am just really happy for him.”

Harriers have now taken seven points from three matches since a 5-1 home defeat to Radcliffe and sit seventh in National League North.

Murray continued: “We have been trying to free the players up, to show their potential. Having the two away games has helped.

“We brought it back here on Saturday and I thought every single one of them expressed themselves.

“You could see with Riley as soon as he got his goal, he started enjoying himself.”

Goals from Jake Collins and Aaron Bishop earned Darlaston Town a welcome 2-0 win over Atherton Collieries in the Northern League West Division.

The victory came hours after the club announced the resignation of long-serving chairman Neil Chambers.

Sporting Khalsa remain at the wrong end of the table after losing 3-0 away to Lower Breck.

Jack Edwards scored the only goal as Lichfield City claimed a 1-0 win away at Rugby Borough.

The win was enough to lift them over the hosts and up to third in the Midlands Division table.
