The Stourton Park outfit were on course for their first home defeat of the season when they trailed 28-20 with just five minutes remaining.

But Jack Teague brought the deficit back to within a score when he sent over a penalty and then held his nerve to nail the game-clinching conversion, after Ben Freeman had scored in the corner to bring the scores level with just seconds left on the clock.

Newport’s defeat at home to Lutterworth meant the win was enough to send Stour top of the table.

Lichfield sit eighth, just seven points behind the leaders in what is shaping up to be a fiercely competitive division, after their 35-20 win away at Nuneaton.

Dudley Kingswinford were unable to build on their first win of the season the previous weekend as they were beaten 22-11 at Bridgnorth. Devon Maduagwu scored their only try of the afternoon.

Walsall are up to fifth in Regional Two Midlands North after a 36-17 win at Ilkeston.

A closely-contested first half saw the home side twice take the lead but Walsall hit back to go in just ahead at the break thanks to tries from Ben Pitt and George Green.

The lead was extended soon after the break when Pitt went over for his second of the game but it was only in the closing stages the visitors were able to pull clear.

Joe Coleman scored with 10 minutes remaining to give Walsall breathing space, with George Doughty then adding their final try of the afternoon after an Ilkeston line-out.

Old Halesonians are continuing to find it tough going in Regional Two West but at least picked up their second point of the season in a high-scoring 41-33 defeat at Hereford.

Tries from Luke Bimson and Olly Lynch gave Stourbridge Lions some cheer on an otherwise difficult afternoon at home to high-flying Whitchurch in Counties One West (North).

The visitors ran out 29-12 winners, while Burntwood were also beaten, 31-20 at home by Newport seconds.

There was better news for Kidderminster, who climbed off the bottom of Counties One West (South) with a 42-26 derby win over fellow strugglers Droitwich.

Willenhall continue to soar at the top of Counties Two West (West) after making it five wins from five matches with a 50-28 victory at home to Newcastle.

But a much-changed Stafford found it tough going at Leek seconds, where they were swept aside 57-12.

Ben Pryce went over to give the visitors the perfect start but the home side responded with four tries before the break.

Fin Collins added a second score for Stafford in the second half but it was largely an afternoon to forget, with Pryce and Joben Corcoran both leaving the pitch late on following a clash of heads.

Wolverhampton still have just one win to their name after losing 22-10 at home to Ashbourne.

Eccleshall still have a perfect record at the top of Counties Three West (North) after beating Lichfield seconds 44-24, while Stone won 49-33 at struggling Cannock and Rugeley went down 47-21 at St Leonards.

Warley made it four wins from five in Counties Three West (South) with a 33-15 triumph over DK seconds but there were defeats for Aldridge and Wednesbury in Counties Four West (North).
