Boss has prayers answered as Kidderminster Harriers snap winless run
Delighted boss Adam Murray saw his prayers answered as Kidderminster Harriers beat Merthyr Town to snap their winless run.
Amari Morgan-Smith’s 79th minute penalty earned Harriers their first win for seven matches and Murray, who had come under increasing scrutiny from supporters following a 5-1 home defeat to Radcliffe earlier this month, later quipped divine intervention may have played a part.
“There’s been a shift over the last seven days for us,” he said. “I have done a lot of praying and I know God is good, so I know we always win.
“I knew the goal was coming. How it was going to come, I wasn’t sure. But when you put teams under that much stress there has to be a breakthrough. I’m proud of the whole team.”
Frustrated Halesowen Town boss Russ Penn was left “gobsmacked” after his team conceded another late goal to draw 2-2 at Quorn in the Southern Central Premier.
The Yeltz were stung by Sivio Bello’s 95th minute leveller and Penn said: “It’s unacceptable now. We were superb tonight and I should not be here talking like this.
“That is 11 games out of 13 we have been leading and we have only won five of them.
“There is obviously a weakness in defending leads. I am utterly gobsmacked at how we have not won the game.”
Stourbridge’s struggles continued as they were beaten 3-1 away at Bedford Town. Joe Hull cancelled out Archie Jones’ early strike but the home side took control in the second half.
Two second half goals also saw Rushall Olympic beaten 3-1 at FC United of Manchester in the Northern Premier League.
Chasetown suffered a setback in the West Division as they were edged out 2-1 at home by Atherton Collieries, while Sporting Khalsa went down 4-1 at Runcorn Linnets.
