Aston Villa defender receives public apology after being left with gruesome injury

Tottenham defender Kevin Danso has apologised to Lucas Digne for the challenge which left the Villa defender with a gruesome ankle injury.

The left-back sustained a large cut above his left ankle after being caught late by Danso during the second half of Villa’s 2-1 win in north London last Sunday.

Referee Simon Hooper and his video assistant did not deem the challenge to be a foul and a visibly frustrated Digne was later shown remonstrating with the fourth official after coming off late in the game.
