Jenkins' pup is gunning for glory at Monmore
Trainer Alan Jenkins is excited about Swift Arson's potential having fired on all cylinders so far at Monmore Green.
Arson - known as Wenger at the Bishopswood kennels due to owner John Glews being an avid Arsenal supporter - does not turn two until January and has taken to racing with aplomb.
Six wins have come from just eight starts, the latest of those coming at A6 on Wednesday, while he also managed four victories on the spin last month.
That feat has seen him named the track's Dog of the Month for September and Jenkins has high hopes for the youngster.
"He has the same mother as Swift Battery who was a brilliant bitch for us," said Jenkins. "Swift Battery was the Owners' Association Bitch of the Year in 2023 having excelled at the top grade and in Open class.
"If Swift Arson can be anything like she was, we'll be very pleased with that.
"He doesn't turn two until January but has taken to it really well so far, trapping well and showing some nice early pace.
"If he can stay fit and firing, it'll be really interesting to see what he can achieve going into next summer.
"Hopefully, he keeps rising up the grades over the months to come."
Tonight at Monmore, the pick of a full graded card looks to be race six which involves Owners’ Association Dog of the Year for 2024, Coologue Pest running from trap one.
The A1 contest also involves Senahel Sydney, with the wide runner having done well since switching to Nathan Hunt’s kennel recently.
Another A1 later in the card sees the prolific Vampire Bob, trained by Gary Griffiths and owned by the David De Broomhead Syndicate, go for a remarkable fourth win on the spin at the top grade.
