Wembley dreams are driving Lye Town boss Richard Ball, who says his side will leave nothing on the pitch against recent FA Vase champions tomorrow.

The Flyers visit Newport Pagnell in the first round tomorrow. The Buckinghamshire-based side won the Vase in 2021/22 and were runners-up the following season.

Lye make the trip in fine spirits after a 4-0 win last weekend to extend their unbeaten run to three matches in all competitions, and Ball says confidence is flowing through the group at just the right time.

“It’s the FA Vase, growing up, you want to play at Wembley as a kid,” said the Flyers boss.

“It’s going to be a tough ask, they won the competition a few years back, they were then finalists, and I have seen that they have made a couple of signings this week.

“But, we are going there with confidence and will give it our best shot, and hopefully we are on the right end of the result.

“I said previously that we have been playing okay, but just not scoring the goals. We had been creating chances but didn’t have our luck in front of goal.

“But, it has changed. It has changed in the past few games.

“We have turned a bit of a corner and we are playing well. The changing room is all knitted together and buzzing. Long may it continue, it has been a good couple of weeks.”

Elsewhere, tonight (7.45pm K/O) Dudley Town host Belper United.

Tomorrow, Brocton welcome Aylestone Park while Gornal Athletic entertain Coton Green. Stone Old Alleynians visit Sandiacre Town and Stafford Town host Nuneaton Town.

In the Midland Premier, Tividale travel to Studley. Meanwhile, in the Midland One, Smethwick Rangers go to AFC Bridgnorth, Birmingham OJM host AFC North Kilworth, Cradley Town welcome Knowle and Bilston Town travel to FC Stratford.

In the Edward Case Cup first round (south), Wolverhampton Casuals visit Ashville.
