Non-league round-up: Defeats for Hednesford Town and Halesowen, as Darlaston's woes worsen
Hednesford Town dropped to fifth in the Northern Premier after falling to a 2-1 defeat at Whitby Town.
Donald Chimalilo opened the scoring for Whitby in the 35th-minute, before Sam Collins doubled their advantage midway into the second half.
Montel Gibson halved the deficit for Hednesford with 20 minutes left on the clock, but was unable to prevent them from succumbing to their first league defeat in six.
Halesowen Town also tasted defeat in the Southern Central Premier, after they were beaten 3-2 against Redditch United at The Grove.
Jason Cowley provided the Yeltz with the lead just past the half-hour mark, which was cancelled out by Fabian Reynolds just seven minutes after the restart.
Alex Cameron bagged a brace to double the visitors' lead, before Cowley made it a tense finale with his second of the evening nine minutes from time.
"I've got to question myself what I said at half-time to be honest," Halesowen boss Russ Penn said.
"Because I thought we had a really good first half, especially the first 30 minutes.
"We were front-footed, got the goal we deserved, even though it was scrappy. We just went off in our own world in terms of how we defend out of possession and our shape.
"They're a good team, we know that, and they've hurt us in that period. It's so frustrating."
Sporting Khalsa were denied back-to-back league wins after Kidsgrove Athletic snatched a point at the death in the North One West.
Kieron Whittaker propelled Khalsa into the lead just past the hour-mark, but Logan Cousins restored parity in dramatic fashion in the 90th-minute.
Second from bottom Darlaston Town's woes continued as they were beaten 2-0 at Newcastle United courtesy of goals from Joel Jones and Ethan Vale.
That extended Darlaston's winless run to nine games in the league.
