Step 5/6 round-up: AFC Wolverhampton City close in on play-off spots with victory

AFC Wolverhampton City moved to within a point of the Midland Premier Division play-offs with a 3-1 win over Stone Old Alleynians.

Devante Ramsey cancelled out Jacob Wedderburn's 15th-minute opener, but Christopher Smith restored the Wulfs' lead on the cusp of half-time, before Kie Houlihan pulled the seal on the win in second half stoppage time.

Dudley Town made it back-to-back wins with a 2-0 triumph over Uttoxeter Town courtesy of goals from substitutes Matthew Funge and Harry Crook.

Lye Town cruised to a 4-0 victory over Whitchurch Alport after Luke Sidaway's double was followed by late goals from Daniel Tozer and Alfie Didlock.

Elsewhere, Stourport Swifts and Brocton served up a goalless stalemate, while Tividale succumbed to a 4-1 defeat at Abbey Hutton United.

Division One leaders Gornal Athletic extended their winning streak to seven games with a 3-0 win at Bridgnorth, as Traevay Wright bagged a brace and Mitchell Botfield completed the scoring.

Cradley Town remain in the relegation zone on goal difference only after beating Nuneaton Griff 4-3 thanks to Kane Harrold's brace and goals from Callum North and Harry Clifton.

Callum Thorpe scored twice and Lucas Edwards also joined him on the score sheet to guide Smethwick Rangers to a 3-0 win over Allexton & New Parks.

Michael Nelson and Jarrell Hylton scored in Birmingham OJM's 2-0 win at Stapenhill, as Bilston Town played out a 1-1 draw at Wednesfield.

Wolverhampton Casuals bowed out of the Macron Cup after blowing a two-goal lead in their 3-2 defeat at Cammell Laird. 

Phillip McKerdy and Jonathan Letford propelled Cassies into a 2-0 lead inside 34 minutes, but a second half double from Rory Alldis and a solitary strike from Joseph Bayliss completed the comeback.

Eccleshall led inside two minutes through Nicky Parker, but also suffered elimination after William Osbourne's brace and another from Alex Hughes condemned them to a 3-1 home defeat against Telford Town.

In the North West Division One South, rock bottom Wolverhampton Sporting's woes continued, as they were condemned to a 4-1 drubbing by Stockport Georgians. 

That latest setback was their sixth straight defeat on the spin and leaves them six points adrift of safety.

Stafford Town also squandered a 2-0 lead in front of their own supporters, after succumbing to a 3-2 defeat against Ashville. 

Matthew Hearsey and Patryk Mazurkiewicz put Stafford in the driving seat inside 13 minutes, but a hat-trick from Joseph Dulson completed the turnaround for Ashville.

Bewley Town strolled to a 12-0 demolition of Evesham United Reserves in the second round of the UHL Challenge Cup. 

Elliott Lee netted a hat-trick, Ben Espley and Alex Price bagged braces, while goals from Jack Bissell, Kai Kiffin, Sam Austin, Jack Bailey and Will Dearlove completed the rout.
