Fereday hoping pups will make their mark at Monmore
A group of ‘energetic pups with bright futures’ make their racing debuts for trainer Chris Fereday at Monmore Green this evening.
April 2024 pups Noduff Golf, Noduff Foxtrot and Noduff Delta all make their career bows in A6, A9 and D4 contests respectively.
The trio are owned by the Noduff Racing club, headed up by former Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) owners’ representative Ian Foster, and Walsall-based trainer Fereday is excited over what the litter can achieve in the years and months to come.
“They’re a lovely litter bred from Pestana and Noduff Bellagio,” said Fereday.
“They’re very energetic pups with bright futures; all graded over different levels.
“They’re very lightly schooled and still learning their job but, hopefully, all of them will find their feet and go up the grades nicely. We’re excited to see how they get on in their first races.”
Also in the litter are Noduff Alpha, Noduff Bravo, Noduff Charlie and Noduff Echo.
Richie Taberner trains both Alpha and Echo while the others are also with Fereday.
Alpha looks like he has the potential to be the pick of the litter having clocked some super-quick times in 264m trials recently.
Also tonight at Monmore, there is a special presentation race for the track’s newest hall of fame member Bill Skidmore.
A long-term owner with Kim Billingham-Hine and her father Peter before that, Skidmore has had greyhounds at the Wolverhampton track over several decades.
He could well be joining Noduff Delta at the winners’ podium as he runs in that race at 9.04pm.
From beginner to veteran, Gary Griffiths’ Bengarth Blaise is still going strong and looks to mark his 155th career outing with a victory.
Having not finished outside of the top three in his last five runs, he goes from trap six in the card opener at 6.31pm.
