Rugby round-up: Freeman scores four as Stour run riot
Winger Ben Freeman scored four tries as Stourbridge ran riot against Lutterworth.
The Stourton Park outfit rebounded from their first defeat of the Regional One Midlands campaign in spectacular style, putting their newly-promoted visitors to the sword in an emphatic 51-21 victory.
Dan Rundle also bagged a brace as Stour ran in nine tries in total and moved up to third in the early season table.
Lichfield claimed their second win of the season after edging a thrilling match at Banbury.
The home side were made to pay for poor discipline as the visitors sneaked victory by a single point, 20-19.
Elsewhere, Dudley Kingswinford’s tough start to the campaign continued as they were thumped 62-12 away to leaders Newport.
Walsall also experienced a chastening day in Regional Two Midlands North as they were swept aside 52-6 at West Bridgford.
A visiting team missing several key players through injury actually got off to a decent start, with Adam Nunney notching the first points of the afternoon with a 30-metre penalty.
But that was as good as it got, with the home side then taking control and attacking relentlessly, scoring four tries in each half.
Walsall did get on the board once more thanks to a Toby Smith penalty but a difficult 80-minutes also saw them have three players yellow carded.
Things were no better for Old Halesonians, who are still searching for their first win of the season after losing 28-5 at Stratford in Regional Two Midlands West.
Stourbridge Lions did get off the mark in Counties One Midlands West (North) with a 41-22 win at home to Telford Hornets.
Dan Johnson scored two tries, while there were also scores for James Westwood, Will Waterfield, Ben Furber, Rowan Dickinson and Will Bishop as the Lions secured their first victory of the season.
Kidderminster are still searching for the latter in the Midlands West (South) division, after losing 43-19 at home to Old Leamingtonians.
In Counties Two Midlands West (West), Willenhall continued their perfect start with a 31-12 win away at Bridgnorth Bulls.
They have a four-point lead at the summit over Stafford, who racked up a 50-5 win over Luctonians Thirds at the County Ground.
Alex Rock and Jack Raine both scored hat-tricks on a blustery and often chaotic afternoon, which saw the teams combine for no fewer than six yellow cards.
Wolverhampton suffered their second defeat in three matches as they were beaten 31-14 at home by Burton seconds.
Counties Three Midlands West (North) leaders Eccleshall made it three wins from three with a 57-12 win over Rugeley, while there were defeats for both Cannock and Stone.
Warley beat Hereford seconds 45-12 in Counties Three West (South), with Essington winning 83-10 over Linley in Counties Four West (North).
