Green on the goal trail in the cup - Wolverhampton & District Sunday League round-up
Callum Green was the five-goal hero as Mental Health Lions roared to a 15-0 victory in the Tom Bird Cup first round.
The Wolverhampton & District Sunday League side wiped the floor with Blackheath Athletic as Nathaniel James hit four and Kian Cunningham bagged a brace.
Daniel Harley, Richard Nicholson and Jahmar Francis were also on target, while an own goal made up the 15.
Mental Health's other side, though, were knocked out of the cup as Aidan Davies scored directly from a free-kick inside his own half in Ashmore Park Rangers RBL's 3-1 victory. Rhys Darby and Jaigo Chopra also netted for Ashmore.
Warstones Athletic also advanced through the opening round as they beat Pattingham Panthers 5-0 thanks to Liam Parkes (two), Connor Garrett, Shaun Steventon and Josh Baker.
There were some closer games in the opening round of the BP Roberts Cup as Charlie's SPorts Bar won 3-2 at HTFC, courtesy of a brace from Abraham Beddows-Ellahi and one from Curtis Tonks. Alex Clarker and Tyler Goodyear replied for HTFC.
Warstones Wanderers Sunday overcame Warstones Wanderers Wolves Nation 5-2 courtesy of a double apiece from Alex Banks and Owen Eggington, as well as a single strike by Jordan Bradley. Connor Forrester and Gurpinder Singh replied for Nation.
Emerald Athletic have now won their first four Division One games of the season after downing AFC Willenhall 6-2 thanks to Louie Mason (two), Tom Ray, Alex Ryder, Jack Stanley and Louis Scotto Read. Reece Perry and Taylor Pollitt scored for Willenhall.
Warstones Wanderers AFC are now three wins from three after Shane Thomas, Luqman Wirba and Lacquan Birch netted in their 3-1 victory at Connaught United, while AFC Bradmore have the same record after beating AFC Jacks, despite Jacks goals from Connor Parker and Amrik Sanghera.
Champions Victoria are finally off the mark this season at the third time of asking after winning 3-2 at Shepwell Wanderers thanks to Dom Bowman, Joe Clarke and Luke Wright. Nathan Dodd and Liam Smith scored for Shepwell.
Meanwhile, Connor Potts and Kane Showell bagged a brace apiece in Ashmore Dog & Partridge's 4-1 triumph at Barnhurst Lane Lions.
Tettenhall and DY United shared eight goals and the points in Division Two, with Max Hague, Thomas Hague, Mark Giles and Liam Whittaker on target for Tettenhall and Ryan Tinsley (two), Jason Jack Wood and Matthew Baker replying for DY.
Tettenhall Athletic were 3-0 winners over Bushbury Hill courtesy of Lee Turner (two) and Cal Watkins.
In Division Three, Lonestar Hydrobolt Rangers won 7-1 at Mental Health Sports - Ade Beckford (two), Ellis Thompson (two), Sebastian Clifton-Coles, Alfie Cartwright and Mark Nikolli with the Lonestar goals.
Maxwell Corinaldi hit a hat-trick in Bradmore United's 5-1 victory over AFC Goldthorne, with Anson Ball and Joseph Brooks also scoring for United, while Jack Chandler replied for Goldthorne.
Early leaders Black Country Phoenix overcame Spartans Athletic 3-1 thanks to Harley Clapp, Ben Cullen and Keegan Stanley, while AFC Huntsmen edged out Codsall Wanderers 2-1 thanks to Rio Dodd and Leon Roberts. Max Moore netted for Codsall.
In Division Four, Samba Olympic defeated Viking United 4-1 - Ellis Newell (two), Tyler Jones and Frankie Harper netting for Olympic and Oscar Charlesworth replying for Viking.
And L&L Football Club lost 6-2 to Mental Health Harriers despite goals from Bobby Arthrell and Lewis Grew.
