Walsall debrief: Flint influence, right-sided recovery and Sadler's 'finishers'
We assess some of the latest Walsall talking points in the debrief after Mat Sadler's men went top of the pile with Saturday's 3-1 victory at Accrington Stanley.
Inspirational Flint
The dominant central defender had already been his side's star man even prior to breaking the deadlock after the hour.
Flint, 36, admitted those kind of physical battles are "bread and butter" to him. He was like a magnet to all of Accrington's long balls and crosses.
All that was missing from his Saddlers CV so far was a goal and his header from substitute Courtney Clarke's corner was perfect.
Flint, who wore the armband, is clearly an inspirational figure for Sadler's side. His addition was a genius piece of recruitment and the role he plays in helping younger defensive colleagues Harrison Burke and Evan Weir develop is priceless.
Barrett recovery
Connor Barrett has been a star for the Saddlers for some time now but the right wing-back did not have it all his own way in Lancashire.
