Non-league round-up: Duo face FA Cup replays after drawing blanks
Halesowen Town and Hednesford Town both face long away trips to Essex for FA Cup replays after failing to make the most of home advantage.
The Yeltz will make the 300-mile round trip to Aveley on Monday night after Saturday's third qualifying round replay at the Grove finished goal-less.
Hednesford, meanwhile, will do it all again with Billericay Town on Tuesday after they also could not find a goal between them at Keys Park.
More than 2,000 fans were in attendance, including more than 100 backing the Isthmian League visitors.
They were treated to an impressive display from Billericay goalkeeper Sam Donkin, who denied Dom McHale and Joe Doyle-Charles as the Pitmen pushed for a winner in the closing stages.
But the home side were also indebted to their keeper, Tony Breeden, who saved from Jack Evans in the seventh minute of stoppage time to ensure the tie went to a replay.
Aveley keeper Joe Wright took the headlines in Halesowen with a brilliant save to prevent Yeltz forward Jason Cowley scoring a last-gasp winner.
Wright tipped Cowley’s header over the bar to the disbelief of his opponent and the crowd.
Yeltz boss Russ Penn is confident his team can get a result in the replay.
Asked about the long journey to come, he said: “A fit team has to be up for a bit of adversity like this.
“It is not a problem for our lads, we are in good shape, have a day to rest tomorrow, and will travel properly on Monday.
“We saw a good cup tie. I thought they were very good, and I thought we were in spells. We do it all again in 48 hours time.”
Sporting Khalsa failed to build on a brilliant start as they blew a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 at home to Wythenshawe in the Northern Premier League West Division.
Chay Tilt and Kristian Green were both on the mark for Khalsa inside the opening 35 minutes.
But the visitors pulled one back before half-time through Demi Rhami and were level just seconds into the second half through Wealth DaSilva.
The turnaround was complete on the hour mark when the latter netted his second of the match and the winner from the penalty spot.
Stafford Rangers also let slip a two-goal advantage to lose 3-2 at Bury FC, in even more agonising circumstances.
Neil Kitching’s men were twice ahead, through Jack Birch and Dan Cockerline, only to be pegged back by goals from Kai Evans and Gabriel Johnson.
Rustam Stephens then netted a stoppage time winner for the home side, just moments after coming off the bench as the Boro made the trip back to the Midlands empty-handed.
Chasetown enjoyed a far better day as Nathan Cameron’s first half goal was enough to earn a 1-0 win over previously unbeaten West Division leaders Lower Breck.
Lichfield City are up to fifth in the Midlands Division following a 3-1 win over Rugby Town.
Jude Taylor and Joe Haines put the home side two goals up, with Dan Bradley then making the points safe in stoppage time after Rivel Mardenborough had pulled one back for the visitors.
