Lye Town boss Richard Ball backs players to bounce back and climb table after tough start

Richard Ball hopes his Lye Town have "turned a corner" after a sluggish start to the season and is confident they can climb the Midland Premier League table.

The Flyers sit 16th in the standings after nine games, with just two wins and six defeats, as they host unbeaten league leaders Northwich Victoria tomorrow.

However, following a morale-boosting victory over Allscott Heath last weekend, which ended a four-game losing streak, and a hard-fought draw against Highgate United in midweek, boss Ball is optimistic.

"I'm not under any pressure from the club, but I know we will climb the league because things are clicking now," he said.

"We have got a couple of additions coming in that will help with that. So I am quite confident.

"We are hoping that we have turned that corner now. The confidence was low when we were losing, it was on the floor.

"Hopefully with the win last Saturday and draw midweek, the confidence is growing, and we can put a little run together.

"It's the fine lines that are costing us at the moment, putting the ball in the back of the net.

"We could be sitting second, third or fourth if we were on the other side of the fine lines.

"On Tuesday we probably created 11 chances but only scored one. We have to start punishing teams if we are going to climb the league."
