Mat Sadler highlights key defensive difference for Walsall this season
Walsall boss Mat Sadler believes the increased experience in defence has been one of the key improvements this season.
Aden Flint, who replaced 21-year-old David Okagbue in the heart of defence following his switch to Peterborough United, has made an immediate impact at Bescot.
The 36-year-old has provided a calmness and nous to the back-line, which was especially lacking at times during the second half of last season.
Adding 'experience' was key for Walsall this summer
Prior to the arrival of Flint, Sadler was also conscious of the experience that Priestley Farquharson could provide, and explained that it was a key factor behind handing him a one-year contract extension in the summer.
"Probably adding that little bit of experience at the back end of the pitch as well," Sadler revealed.
