Rugby round-up: Stourbridge start the new season with back-to-back wins

In contrast, Dudley Kingswinford suffered back-to-back defeats following a 28-14 setback at Lutterworth. 

Walsall secured their first win of the season with a 36-35 success over Stoke-on-Trent in the Regional Two Midlands North, after three late tries from Ben Pitt, Dan Carpenter and Callum Hoy.

Luctonians II are one of three teams locked on 10 points in Regional Two Midlands West after registering back-to-back wins with a 31-14 triumph over Old Halesonians.

In the Counties One Midlands West (South), Kidderminster fell to a 49-5 defeat at Alcester, while Stourbridge II served up a 29-29 draw at Tamworth in the Midlands West (North). 

Elsewhere, Burntwood moved into top spot with a resounding 61-0 rout over Telford Hornets.

Stafford suffered their first defeat of the season after losing 21-17 at Ashbourne in the Counties Two Midlands West (West), as Willenhall eased to a 35-19 win over Longton. 

It was a lot tighter for Wolverhampton who edged to a narrow 29-28 victory at Newcastle (Staffs) II. 

In the Counties 3 Midlands West (North), league leaders Eccleshall started the season with a pair of wins after running out 44-33 victors at Owestry. 

Cannock were condemned to a second successive defeat after falling to a heavy 54-7 drubbing at Uttoexeter. 

Meanwhile, Stone eased to a 36-10 success over St Leonards and Lichfield II lost 30-22 at home to Barton-Under-Wood.

Dudley Kingswinford II beat Walsall II 34-20 in the Counties 3 Midlands West (South), while Handsworth collected their maiden win of the season with a 44-37 success at Pinley in Midlands West (East).

In the Counties 3 Midlands West (South), Warley were crushed 85-0 by early league leaders Woodrush.

Aldridge's early season struggles continued in the Counties 4 Midlands West (North) as they were hammered 69-8 at Bloxwich. 

Wednesbury got off the mark with 60-12 win over Telford Hornets II and Essington did likewise with a 34-27 triumph at Stafford II. 

Burntwood II are still searching for their first victory after they were beaten 22-15 at home to Whitchurch II. 

Stourbridge III chalked up their second win on the spin with a 31-18 success over Malvern II in the Counties Four Midlands West (South). 

Kidderminster Carolians II started their campaign with a 34-12 defeat at home to Redditch and Old Halesonians II lost a high-scoring affair 44-31 against Chaddesley Corbett on home soil.
