Injured defender Harry Williams agrees new deal with Walsall
Walsall defender Harry Williams has agreed a new two-year contract, which also includes an option year in the club's favour.
Williams, whose previous deal expired in June, was initially feared to be out for the entire season, although it's within the realms of possibility that he could be back sooner, the Express & Star understands.
The 23-year-old suffered the injury during the Saddlers’ 1-0 defeat against AFC Wimbledon in the League Two play-off final at Wembley on May 26.

Walsall had been obliged to assist the player through his rehabilitation, but Walsall boss Mat Sadler confirmed his intentions to retain the services of Williams once he recovers.
Fresh terms have been agreed, and Williams has extended his stay, with the club holding the option of extending until 2028, as he becomes the 11th Walsall player under contract beyond the end of this season.
Contract talks to be held in coming weeks

10 players remain out of contract next summer and Sadler insists that talks will be held with certain players over the coming weeks.
“We have to work hard at that. We saw last year that it’s not easy to do but we’ll keep trying to go after the right players,” Sadler said when asked about future contract negotiations.
“Because we want to build again and this is definitely cycle two of the build. It has that feel to it, but we want to stretch that cycle, so there will be discussions over the next six weeks or couple of months."
Since joining from non-league Alvechurch in 2023, Williams has made 56 appearances in all competitions for Walsall, scoring three goals.
He enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Bescot last term - featuring 41 times, including every minute of the Saddlers’ club record-breaking nine-match winning streak.
